In January 2026, the Camala Foundation began supporting its first group of children at Jardim/Escola Casa Wilma, a preschool and primary school located in Buba, Guinea-Bissau. This marked the Foundation’s first direct education partnership and the beginning of long-term, community-based impact in the region.
The children in this first cohort live in situations of deep vulnerability. Many face extreme poverty, unstable family situations, abandonment, illness, or the loss of caregivers. Without support, these children are at high risk of dropping out of school — or never entering the classroom at all.
Yet, despite these challenges, each child carries a powerful story of resilience, hope, and determination. They show up ready to learn, to grow, and to dream of a different future.
